MARCH 18, 2010

Studio Library piece from episode 44, Queen Serenity's death scene, has been added. The name of the piece is unknown, but it is the full musical cue (not ripped from the TV broadcast).
MIDIs from various Sailormoon console games have been provided by Ranmar. See VGMusic.com for further info.

FEBRUARY 19, 2010

The music files have been reorganized and are now located at sailormusic.net/music/ where they are listed by CD and then by format. MP3 and Ogg files are now available unzipped and zipped for your convenience.

MP3 and FLAC files have been removed for the 12 reissued albums. Ogg files are still available.

FLAC files have been added for Gasshou Kumikyoku, Music Fantasy, Music Fantasy S, Sailormoon SS in Paris, PGSM songs (vocal only, no karaoke), PGSM Original DJ Moon 2, and Moonlight Real Girl (listed as out of print on CD Japan and Amazon Japan but still in stock at YesAsia at the moment).

Big news! 12 core Sailor Moon CDs are being reissued in a new high fidelity format called HQCD this March. The deadline for preordering first press copies (which often contain bonus items like stickers or mini posters) is February 4, 2010. Available for preorder at CDJapan and YesAsia.

According to CDJapan, "This HQCD reissue series featur[es] 12 albums "Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon Ongaku Shu (COCX-36146)" through "Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon Sailor Stars Music Collection Vol.2 (COCX-36157)." That is, all of the seasonal and movie soundtracks (except for the Music Collection Extra Version) along with the popular vocal albums from the first two seasons. The OSTs have been out of print for years. This is an amazing opportunity to get them at a reasonable (for Japan) price of $27.54 USD.

Background music for episode #96 (SMS), Haruka and Michiru VS Talismans - I still don't know the name of the piece, but the music was used in a YouTube video showcasing JAL (Japan Airlines) aircraft. Here is the YouTube flash file, which you could use to convert into an audio file. (Tip sent in by Ryan P.)

Regarding the SMS BGM played when Haruka and Michiru hold hands in episode #110 (MIDI , TV broadcast rip): "this BGM is a classical piece but its sorta more of a reinvented version of Sarabande by Handel". (Tip sent in by Raevon R.) Maybe the classical music fans can do something with that :)

Two of the FLAC tracks for Sailormoon Sailorstars Merry Christmas had errors. I've reripped them and replaced the zip file. The tracks can be downloaded individually for a limited time: (10) Koibito ga Santa Claus and (11) Last Christmas.

Today I went through all my outstanding emails and uploaded all the songs that people had sent in over the past year, which I've posted to the International Albums and Bonus Songs. See below for the list. I'd gotten so behind in answering my email that it became too overwhelming to even look at, so I'd mostly been answering a few now and then and leaving the rest. I had messages from a year ago in there O_o This week I resolved to catch up once and for all, and tonight I read through a huge chunk. I haven't been responding to most of them because they're so old now, but all the submissions are being posted.

I have added quick links in the Anime Albums to the MP3 Directory, FLAC Directory, and Ogg Directory so you can browse the various files directly.
Due to request, I have reinstated the Ogg downloads I had removed for some albums. I'm thinking of uploading the ogg files individually and removing the zip files, due to my assumption that most folks choosing the oggs now are doing so because of slow net connections.
To make downloading easier for Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, I have linked all the various vocal albums directly to the directory containing all the files: PGSM MP3 Directory. User feedback made me realize just how confusing the PGSM pages were to navigate, including for me: I had forgotten to link to 4 files! (Minako's "Kiss! Bang!", "I'm Here", "Sayonara Sweet Days", and "Happy Time, Happy Life")
Fixed broken links to the SMR Music Collection FLACs and Ogata Megumi's Moonlight Densetsu cover.
Added FLACs for Christmas For You (187 MB) and Merry Christmas (243 MB).

Uploaded the missing file for Minako's Kiss!2 Bang!2 song from PGSM. All PGSM songs and karaokes are now listed directly in the PGSM MP3 Directory. To make the PGSM songs and music easier to find, I have added quick download links to the PGSM Albums page.

I've reinstated the Song Index, which had been taken offline when I started uploading MP3s and FLACs back in March. The song links now point to their respective album pages for download.

I've added a series of Russian fan songs for download to the International Albums page, which were sent in by a fan a long time ago. Big thanks goes to Rammar for providing these songs and for translating the lyrics to the Russian Sailor Moon theme song, Legenda Lunnogo Sveta.
Also added a link on the same page for Sailor Moon - Deutsche Original Songs - I'm not entirely sure whether this is an actual album or a fan compilation of German songs.
While adding these files I reorganized the directory structure for the international music files so it's clear that they are MP3s and not Oggs, as the files were previously stored in the "/ogg/international/" directory which was misleading. I have replaced any ogg files with the original MP3s that I had.

I have added high quality MP3s and some in FLACs for the Anime Albums, Soundtracks, and PGSM Albums to supplement the Ogg files. I will be adding more FLAC files (for the albums I own) in the future. The Anime Albums and Soundtracks are marked with which kind of file they feature for download. The MP3s are generally 192kbps or variable bitrate 190kbps for those who just want to download and listen on their MP3 player or elsewhere, and the FLACs are for the audiophiles. Some albums (mostly PGSM) are in 320kbps MP3: these are albums I don't own but located elsewhere. All the zip files are marked with which kind of file they contain.

When I was re-encoding everything and trying to find audio files for the albums I don't own, I wasn't sure what to do about the musical albums. I own only a few of those, and the MP3s I have of the others are 128kbps. That's adequate, but there are other sites with better (SeraMyu Antics for example: 160kbps MP3). For now I have only put up downloads for musical albums I could encode at a high quality. The Special Rare Songs and International Albums are obviously in whatever form I've got.
