Sailormusic.net grew out of a small site linking to Sailor Moon MP3s that I created in June of 1997. It's gotten quite respectable since its humble beginnings and is now cited as a top source for album information and downloads. This site was started during my sophmore year in college when I had lots of free time during my summer vacations. Thank goodness I did all the groundwork then, because I can't imagine creating this huge site now that I have a day job! I didn't just create this site, either: I'm also responsible for Manga Style!, which is just like this site but with Sailor Moon artbook scans; a comprehensive Magic Knight Rayearth site; and even a Supergirl site. For your curiosity, I do own just about all of the Sailor Moon anime CDs, a few of the musical albums, and the better PGSM albums. I was an avid collector of anime vocal CDs for a while. My primary interest now is in collecting shoujo manga. I made a site for that too! It's called Tangerine Dreams.
This is my oldest and, along with Manga Style!, most popular site. Running SM.net takes a lot of maintenance and I often wish I could close it and save myself the time, but it has a large and vocal fanbase that I wouldn't ever want to disappoint. SM.net will continue to serve the Sailor Moon community as long as there is a need. SM.net has been through a few name changes and some awfully dated layouts, but it's looking pretty good now and has a thriving community forum, opened in 2003, to support it.
My very first site, my baby, SM.net debuted as "Michelle's Sailor Moon Songs" on June 18, 1997 on GeoCities (www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Temple/6245/) - back when it was good. Back at that time it was all the rage to name anime sites after oneself, so that's my excuse =) Little did I know that keeping a multimedia anime site going month after month is hard work. Many Sailor Moon media sites hosting MP3s and videos have since shut down. In Sailor Moon community was much smaller in the late '90s, which made it easier to host resource-heavy fan sites. Still I manage to keep enough sponsors hosting the files. I'm very grateful for all the wonderful folks who have donated their time and resources to serving the Sailor Moon community together with me.
The early layouts are hilariously bad, but they bring back fond memories (for me anyway =)
