Shopping Guide - Online Stores
Official Licensed CDs
- [USA] Amazon.com - Memorial Song Box, Mirai he Mukatte, Sailormoon World Super Best, SailorStars Best Song Collection, all three English CDs, a number of the Memorial of the Musical albums, and a number of the German CDs.
- [USA/CANADA] Half.com is owned by Ebay but instead of being an auction, it's a sort of an overstock outlet that sells new and used items from third-party sellers. They only ship to the USA and Canada and they take only credit cards, no PayPal. Very much like the third-party sales on Amazon. Half.com appears to sell only official, licensed items (I spotted no bootlegs). Their selection of Sailor Moon CDs is fairly similar to what you would find at Amazon, but they also have some PGSM CDs. Of course, stock goes in and out because it depends on who's selling what.
- [CANADA] JpopHelp is Canadian but prices are in U.S. dollars. Sells both official licensed CDs (marked as "Japanese import") and bootleg anime, jpop and j-rock CDs.
- [JAPAN] CD Japan - located in Japan, carries those few licensed CDs that are still in print. Does not carry the Music Box. Shipping prices are by weight like, but there is also a handling fee on each purchase and a registered mail charge on shipping. Prices are listed in Yen but converted to U.S. for payment. Here is a currency converter.
- [JAPAN] Nippon Export - ship also directly from Japan. New official, licensed CDs.
Bootleg CDs
- [USA] Sailor Moon Specialty Store - bootleg CDs, plus many more Sailor Moon items. Notable for selling the Memorial Music Box (Taiwan version) for only $76 U.S., the cheapest I've seen for the EverAnime version. Memorial Song Box is $66 U.S.
- [CANADA] Sakura Media sells bootleg CDs and some are close to the price they're sold for in Asia (about $6 USD). Their search engine is a bit finicky so you will have to search for both "Sailormoon" and "Sailor Moon". They also sell the Sailor Moon Materials Collection (see Manga Style! for scans). They sell domestic (American) licensed DVDs in their Domestic section. Their import DVD section contains Hong Kong bootlegs so avoid those as bootleg subtitles are notoriously awful, far worse than fansubs.
- [USA] Anime Castle - they have a large selection of the Sailor Moon CDs that are available from the bootleg companies SonMay and EverAnime. Their bootlegged Memorial Song Box and Memorial Music Box are vastly overpriced - almost as much as the licensed box sets. What's the point?
Japanese Secondhand Stores - Official Licensed CDs
Best place to get a wide range of CDs, but shipping and import duty can be expensive. Shipping is calculated by weight and gets cheaper the more CDs you buy. These stores have official, used albums for sale and some will allow you to be notified when something you're looking for becomes available.
